Lake Restoration Project – tree works – drop in session 4th February in the Cafe

Tree removals and replanting will take place in the park from 10th February. These works are necessary for the success of the lake restoration project. Trees are being removed where they are breaking through lake bank edges, where the tree is not a healthy specimen, and / or in order to let more light in to wooded areas.

We will replant at least as many trees as we remove.

Our plans are supported by Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and are in accordance with the recommendations from the most recent Ecology Survey. The are part of our overall plans to improve biodiversity in and around the lake through this NLHF / City Council funded project.

If you’d like to know more about the tree works, we’re having a ‘drop in’ session in Boultham Park Café, Tuesday 4th February, 2-4pm.

If that time doesn’t suit you, get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to arrange a chat at your convenience.

Great news for Boultham Park!

We’re thrilled to announce that the National Lottery Heritage Fund has confirmed funding of almost £660,000, which allows us to restore Boultham Park lake. The project, which will focus on biodiversity, improving water quality and habitat management, has been developed with expert guidance from Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust and with the support of BPAG. Works will take place this year, and a calendar of activities will spread over three years. We’ll keep you posted as plans progress, but in the meantime, the full press release is here.

Green Flag Raising

Cllr Bob Bushell (Portfolio Holder for Remarkable Place and Robert Pitchford (BPAG Chair)

The sun shone on the 24th July, when we raised the Green Flag in Boultham Park for the first time.

On the same day we celebrated flag raisings in Hartsholme Country Park and the Arboretum – both of which have held Green Flag status for many years. But for Boultham Park, this was a landmark occasion and there to share the moment were the council’s Portfolio Holder for Remarkable Place, members of the Boultham Park Advisory Group and local community, local ward councillors, staff from the council and Linkage Community Trust, and Continental Landscapes.

Thanks to everyone who joined in the ceremonies at all three parks, and especially to all those people who have contributed to the award – in particular our brilliant Park Advisory Groups and volunteers. We – genuinely – couldn’t have done it without you.
